Apr 6, 2023 · Sanding when building your own furniture. Sanding is not a one and done process. There’s actually a science, or you might say, an art to it. To get that smooth, store-bought furniture feel, start with a 60 grit sandpaper and work your way up to a 220 grit. I like to work in this order when sanding: 60, 80, 120, 220.
