Mercari item arrived damaged

I ordered an item recently and it arrived severely damaged, and had undisclosed damage not mentioned in the listing. I mentioned it to the buyer and they insisted that it was damaged in shipment, despite it not being possible. They told me to reach out to Mercari, and that they'd reimburse both of us.
